Brewster Firefighters Provide Funds and Labor to Renovate Brewster Park Softball Field
On Friday May 21st members of the Brewster Fire Rescue Association took on the project of renovating the softball field located on Center Street in the Brewster Park Association complex. The Fire Rescue Association has long ties to the residents of Brewster Park beginning over forty years ago when “coach” Tom Meagher and other residents of the community established the annual Brew Run as a fund-raising benefit for the Association. The Association continues to use the funds generated by the race to purchase fire and life safety educational equipment and supplies, provide funding for attendance at emergency medical and fire-based training conferences, support their efforts to present community fire and life safety training and education sessions, and complete other community-based projects.
In addition to renovating the field the Association also honored “Coach” Tom Meagher by naming the diamond after him as a “thank you” for his many years of dedication and commitment to the residents and children of Brewster Park and his continued service to the Town of Brewster. This project was a small token of appreciation for his, and Brewster Park’s many years of support.
A short dedication ceremony was held at the field on Memorial Day. The Fire Association would like to thank KB Landscaping for donating their dump truck and skid steer, the Town of Brewster Conservation Commission, and the Brewster Park Association for supporting us through this project.
