Brewster Firefighters Train on Roof Ventilation Operations

On Friday February 21, members of Group 1 under the direction of Captain Michael Gerlach conducted roof ventilation training using the department’s roof training prop. Vertical roof ventilation using chain and rotary saws is a common fireground operation used to release the products of combustion (smoke, heat, gases) from attics and other high points of a building during a structure fire. The training prop provides Brewster firefighters the ability to learn and practice these skills in a safe and controlled environment prior to applying them at a fire scene.
