Brewster Fire Responds to Boat Fire

On Wednesday March 13 at approximately 6:00 pm. the Brewster Fire Department was dispatched to a reported fully involved 27’ boat located within 25’ to an adjacent home.  Off duty Firefighter Matthew Tucker arrived at the location and confirmed the report. He also requested mutual aid assistance to the scene due to the fires proximity to the home and asimultaneous medical response in Brewster that reduced the number of available personnel. On arrival Car 232 (Deputy Chief Varley) assumed command and ordered Brewster and Harwich firefighters to stretch a 1 ¾ attack line to extinguish the fire. One person suffered non-life threatening burns and was transported to Cape Cod Hospital by the Eastham Fire Department. Eversource was requested to the scene due to the main electric line to the home being burned through by the fire. In addition to Eastham and Harwich the Orleans and Chatham Fire Departments also assisted at the scene and the Yarmouth and Dennis Fire Departments provided fire and EMS coverage to the Town.  All Brewster unites were placed back in service at approximately 7:45 p.m.
