On Thursday December 13 at approximately 5:30 p.m. Car 231 (Chief Moran), Engine 234, and Ladder 237 responded to 240 Commerce Park North in Chatham on a mutual aid second alarm assignment. On arrival Chatham firefighters were confronted with heavy fire from a large commercial structure used for motor vehicle and boat repairs and immediately initiated an exterior defensive fire attack. During the incident Brewster firefighters were assigned to force entry into the structure, stretch attack lines, assist with overhaul, and set-up Ladder 237 for potential ladder pipe use. The building suffered heavy fire damage and no injuries were reported. All Brewster units returned to service at approximately 7:45 p.m. The fire remains under investigation by the Chatham Fire and Police Departments.
