Brewster Firefighters Respond to Dumpster Fire

On Thursday April 12 at approximately 3:30 p.m. Brewster firefighters were dispatched to a dumpster fire located next to a commercial structure under construction at 44 Underpass Road. On arrival Car 231 (Chief Moran) found a 15 yard dumpster on fire. Engine 239 arrived on scene and stretched a 300’ supply line from a hydrant opposite the entrance on Underpass Road. Firefighters quickly stretched a 1 ¾ attack line to extinguish the fire and prevent it from extending to the facility. Due to a deep seated fire in the construction debris within the container Nauset Disposal responded to the scene to dump the contents to allow the fire department to fully extinguish the flames.

Brewster Police assisted with closing down Underpass Road for the duration of the incident and a Harwich Fire Department engine provided coverage at fire headquarters
