Construction of the department’s new rescue/pumper by Ferrara Fire Apparatus is moving along quickly. The apparatus is a multi-purpose vehicle (MVP Rescue/Pumper) that is being built on an Inferno custom chassis. It includes a Hale 1750 gallon per minute pump, foam system, light tower, 750 gallon water tank, Cummins diesel engine, Allison transmission, vehicle extrication tools, EMS equipment, ground ladders, and other specialized fire suppression related equipment. The vehicle is replacing two older fire apparatus (Heavy Rescue 241 and Engine 233) that are being traded in to reduce the size of the department’s apparatus fleet and decrease the overall cost of the project. Final inspection of the vehicle is scheduled for early December with a delivery prior to January 1.
