In addition to daily responses to emergency incidents in town during this past weekend Brewster firefighters also responded on automatic mutual aid to two house fires in the Town of Harwich.
On Friday April 14 at 5:46 p.m. Engine 234 responded to Harwich Station 2 to provide station coverage while Harwich firefighters and other mutual aid units extinguished a structure fire at 74 Queen Anne Road that severely damaged the rear exterior, first floor and attic of the home which was unoccupied at the time.
The second automatic mutual aid response to Harwich occurred on Saturday April 15 at 3:34 p.m. At this second alarm fire located at 16 Standish Woods Circle numerous Brewster units including Car 231 (Chief Moran), Engine 234, Engine 239, and Ambulance 242 were requested to the scene. On arrival Brewster firefighters were assigned to assist with interior fire operations, extinguish a brush fire that had extended from the house fire, and rapid intervention (firefighter safety) functions. This fire originated in the rear of the home on a wooden deck and like the earlier fire on Friday extended into the first floor and attic area of the structure causing heavy damage to these interior locations. During the fire Harwich firefighters rescued a dog from the unoccupied home.
