Brewster Firefighters Respond to Orleans Structure Fire

On Tuesday June 21 at approximately 6:20 a.m. Ladder 237 under the direction of Captain Jeff Sturtevant and Car 231 (Chief Moran) responded on a line box assignment to a reported structure fire at 161 Monument Road in Orleans. On their arrival Orleans firefighters found heavy smoke and flames emanating from a 1 ½ story detached garage with a second floor office. Multiple hose lines were stretched into the garage by firefighters to extinguish the fire which was caused by a lightning strike from a passing storm. In addition to Brewster, an engine from Eastham was utilized at the scene while an engine from the Harwich Fire Department covered Orleans headquarters. All Brewster units returned to service at approximately 8:00 a.m.
