Brewster Fire Department Responds to Motor Vehicle Collision

On Friday December 11 at 6:59 a.m. the Brewster Fire Department was dispatched to a two car motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Russel’s Path and Freemans Way.

Per protocol the Harwich Fire Department was also dispatched to the scene with an ambulance.

On arrival Brewster Car 231 (Chief Moran) assumed command of the incident and reported a two-car motor vehicle collision with entrapment of one of the vehicles drivers. Harwich Ambulance 63 arrived on scene and immediately began evaluating and assessing the severity of the entrapped patients injuries. Brewster Heavy Rescue 241 and Ambulance 244 arrived on scene and initiated an extrication operation to remove the passenger side door using the “jaws of life”.

Upon removal of the door Brewster and Harwich firefighters packaged the patient for transportation to Cape Cod Hospital with non-life threatening injuries in Brewster Ambulance 244. The occupant of the second vehicle was assessed for potential injuries and upon completion refused transportation to the hospital. A minor fuel leak was mitigated by the crews and the scene was turned over to the Brewster Police Department for further investigation. All Brewster units were placed back in service by 9:07 a.m.
