Brewster Firefighters Respond to Motor Vehicle Accident

On Monday August 10 at 5:37 p.m. Ambulance 242, 243, 244, Heavy Rescue 241, and Car 231 (Chief Moran) responded to a two car motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Thad Ellis Road and Main Street (6A). Upon arrival the crew from Ambulance 242 found a three car collision with air bag deployment, fluid leaks, and three injuries. During this incident a report of a bike accident on the Cape Cod Rail Trail was also received by Dispatch. Due to all Brewster units and personnel being used at the accident scene the Incident Commander Captain Anthony Dalmau requested the response of an Orleans Fire Department ambulance to the bike trail.

As patients were being assessed and packaged for transport to Cape Cod Hospital Brewster Police reported the individual involved in the reported bike accident was actually fleeing from the accident scene and not involved in a bike accident. Police made contact with the person who despite being injured refused medical treatment.

Brewster personnel deployed absorbents to the fluid leaks and secured the vehicles. Apparatus remained on scene as a precaution until the vehicles were removed by the towing company. All Brewster units were placed back in service at 7:55 p.m.
