Brewster Fire Department Responds to Structure Fire in Harwich

 

On Saturday June 6th at 8:07 p.m. the Brewster Fire Department responded to 7 Dexter Avenue in the Town of Harwich on a working fire assignment. On arrival, the Harwich Fire Department found that a barbeque grill fire had extended up the exterior wood siding in the rear of the 1 ½ story residence into the attic. Harwich units immediately advanced two hoselines into the attic space to extinguish the fire while other units ventilated the roof and conducted overhaul operations searching for fire. Brewster Ladder 237 responded directly to the scene along with Car 231 (Chief Moran). Ladder 237 was assigned to assist with overhaul operations and laddering the structure. The fire was placed under control in approximately 20 minutes. The Dennis and Chatham Fire Departments also responded directly to the scene with engine companies and Orleans and Brewster covered Harwich Headquarters. All Brewster units returned to service at 9:07 p.m.
