Brewster Firefighters Conduct Hands-On Fire Training

On Thursday July 30 members of the Brewster Fire Department conducted several hands-on training scenarios at a vacant Main Street residence scheduled for demolition as part of the expansion and rebuild of the Cape Cod Bible Alliance Church which was destroyed in a November 2012 arson fire.  Firefighters practiced various skills such as the use and placement of ground ladders, power saw operations, vertical ventilation techniques, and rapid intervention skills during the evening drill session. The chance to conduct hands-on training of this type and sharpen the skills of our members on a live structure that is typical of the residences within our response area is an exceptional alternative to the classroom based training typically conducted by the department.  Our organization would like to thank the congregation and administrators of the Cape Cod Bible Alliance Church for providing us with this valuable training opportunity.
