The members of Barnstable County Technical Rescue Team (BCTRT) assigned to the tech rescue component recently conducted their October training session at Nickerson State Park in Brewster. During this four hour hands-on program members performed evolutions designed to test their knowledge and skills in the areas of assembling rope rescue anchoring systems and implementing wide area searches in the event the team was dispatched to assist in a search for a missing person. These monthly training sessions allow team members the ability to work cooperatively in developing the skills necessary to maintain a high level of response and operational readiness.
In addition, the members assigned to the dive component of the team have also been busy during the month of October testing out their new equipment and preparing for the teams second Public Safety Diver Training certification program to be held later this month.
Technical rescue team members from the Brewster Fire Department include Chief Robert Moran, Deputy Chief William Harrison, Captain Anthony Dalmau, FF Kirk Riker, and FF Dan Kimball. Members assigned to the dive component of the team include Captain Jeff Sturtevant, FF Chad Foakes, and FF Dan Kimball.
