September is National Preparedness Month

Are You Ready?

September is national preparedness month which means families should take a close look at their current home safety plan in an effort to proactively protect themselves and their property against possible damage from severe storms and other natural disasters.  Based on last years severe winter weather local and national Emergency Management officials and other experts suggest families should be equipped to be self-reliant for a post storm time frame of at least 72 hours.

In order to ensure our residents and the community is properly prepared for an event of this type the Brewster Fire Department is highly suggesting our residents review the Massachusetts Storm Preparation Handbook attached below and visit the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) website at www.ready.gov for storm preparation tips, safety procedures, and draft safety plans.
