On Thursday August 22 at 8:21 p.m. the Brewster Fire Department responded to the Town of Eastham with their four-wheel drive ATV to assist the Eastham Fire Department with a search for an overdue boater. During this intense search the Brewster and Eastham firefighters utilized their ATV’s to search the shoreline while a Coast Guard helicopter searched the water and marsh areas located near the Dyer Prence Road beach landing. In addition to the ATV, Brewster Car 231 (Chief Moran) also responded to the scene to assist the Eastham chief officers with management of the incident. Shortly after the arrival of the helicopter the missing person was spotted coming ashore after reportedly mooring and abandoning the vessel. Once on shore he was evaluated by EMT’s and refused any further medical treatment. All Brewster units were placed back in service at 10:26 p.m.
