Brewster Fire Department Responds to Dennis Structure Fire

On Friday August 2 at 4:32 a.m. Car 231 (Chief Moran) and Heavy Rescue 241 responded to 10 Village Green Drive in Dennis on the working fire assignment. On arrival at the scene the Dennis Fire Department found a heavy fire condition in the rear of a large wood frame private residence. In addition to the exterior fire in the rear of the building it was apparent the fire had already extended into the attic, roof, and other second floor areas of the home. Fortunately the residents of the home who had been awakened by the sound of their smoke alarms self evacuated from building prior to the arrival of fire department units.

Dennis firefighters initiated an aggressive interior attack on the fire and immediately requested mutual aid assistance to the scene. On arrival the Brewster Heavy Rescue company under the command of Captain/Paramedic Anthony Dalmau was assigned to assist in extinguishing several significant areas of fire hidden in interior void spaces and the attic and Chief Moran (Car 231) was assigned to manage the fire operations in the rear or side “C” of the residence.

The Harwich and Yarmouth Fire Departments also provided mutual aid assistance at the scene. Additionally, Brewster Engine 239 supplied coverage at Dennis Station 2 for the duration of the incident. All Brewster units returned to service at approximately 6:30 a.m.
