Brewster Fire Department Responds to Harwich as Rapid Intervention Company

On Wednesday July 17 at 1:11 a.m. Ladder 237 was dispatched on a line box assignment as the rapid intervention company (RIC) to a structure fire at 21 Uncle Venie’s Road in Harwich. On arrival Harwich Fire Department found a one story 20’ x 25’ detached garage well involved in fire. Firefighters immediately stretched a 2 ½ inch attack line to extinguish the fire and prevent extension to the residence which was located only a few feet from the garage. On their arrival Brewster Ladder 237 was ordered to assist with overhauling the structure, removing burning debris, and searching for hidden fire. Brewster Car 231 (Chief Moran) was assigned as the Safety Officer, and Brewster Car 232 (Deputy Harrison) was assigned as the Accountability Officer. The Chatham Fire Department, who was also dispatched on the line box assignment arrived on scene and was ordered to stretch a back-up attack line and assist with final extinguishment and mop-up operations.  Additionally, during the incident Brewster Ambulance 242 provided EMS coverage for Harwich.  All Brewster units returned to service at approximately 2:55 a.m.
