Brewster Fire Department Operates at Dennis Structure Fire

On Saturday June 29 at 7:10 am the Brewster Fire Department was requested by the Dennis Fire Department to respond on a mutual aid assignment to a reported structure fire at 18 Donovan Way.  On arrival Dennis firefighters were confronted with a fire in the attic of a three-story wood frame private dwelling caused by a lightning strike to the buildings roof. An aggressive interior fire suppression attack, vertical and horizontal ventilation of the area, and a rapid search for hidden fire was initiated by the first arriving companies. Through these efforts the fire was contained to the attic and third floor of the home.

On arrival at the scene Brewster Car 231 (Chief Moran) was assigned to the Incident Command post and Heavy Rescue 241 under the command of Captain LaBonte was directed to assist with salvage and overhaul operations within the structure.  After placing the fire under control the Dennis incident commander released the Brewster units who were placed back in service at 8:47 am upon their return to fire headquarters.
