Barnstable County Technical Rescue Team Conducts Drill

On Thursday May 16 members of the Barnstable County Technical Rescue Team participated in an all day full scale hands-on training session that tested the team’s capabilities and expertise in the areas of trench and confined space rescue. The “real life” scenarios which were conducted at Chatham Airport included the construction of temporary trench shoring, air quality monitoring, establishment of rope removal systems, and the packaging and removal of simulated victims from simulated trench collapses and confined spaces.  The highly trained members of this group conducted this session in preparation for a larger scale technical rescue drill to be held in Bridgewater on June 2 that will encompass technical rescue teams from Barnstable, Bristol, Plymouth, and Norfolk counties. Members of the team from the Brewster Fire Department include Chief Moran and Deputy Chief Harrison (Task Force Leaders) and Captain Anthony Dalmau, Firefighter/EMT Kirk Riker, and Firefighter/EMT Daniel Kimball who serve as Rescue Technicians.
