Brewster Fire Department Assists with Water Search for Missing Kayaker

On Saturday May 18 at 2:46 p.m. the Brewster Fire Department was requested by the Dennis Fire Department to respond with Heavy Rescue 241 and Marine 246 to assist with the search for a missing kayaker in their Town.  Car 232 (Deputy Chief Harrison) and Heavy Rescue 241 responded to Sesuit Harbor to assist the Incident Commander with management of the event and to serve as a logistical support base for the Mid Cape Dive Team which was also requested to respond to the scene.  Marine 246 responded to Paine’s Creek in Brewster where the boat was deployed to assist with a water search of the bay.  Additional resources assisting the Dennis Fire Department included a 25’ boat and helicopter from the U.S. Coast Guard and boats from the Orleans and Eastham Fire Departments. Units searched the bay from Dennis to Eastham for approximately 3 hours in an attempt to find the missing kayaker. During the water search the Dennis Police Department conducted a corresponding investigation in an attempt to gather further information regarding the missing individual. As a result of this inquiry the kayaker was located on land in a safe location.  The search was terminated at 5:48 p.m.
